Dual Licensing Overview

AAASP is distributed under a dual-license model. The same codebase is available under two distinct licensing arrangements, and you choose the one that fits your use case:

  • AGPL-3.0 (open source) — free for personal projects, research, non-commercial use, and any deployment where you are willing to open-source your modifications and any software you build on top of AAASP that is delivered over a network.
  • Commercial License — required if you want to use AAASP in a proprietary product or hosted service without complying with AGPL's copyleft obligations.

Note: Using the hosted service at aaasp.ai is governed by our Terms of Service and does not require you to obtain a separate license — you are using our deployment, not redistributing the software.

Open Source License — AGPL-3.0

The AAASP source code is available on GitHub and licensed under the GNU Affero General Public License, Version 3 ("AGPL-3.0").

What AGPL-3.0 Allows

  • Use the software for any purpose
  • Study and modify the source code
  • Distribute original or modified versions
  • Run the software privately (self-hosted, internal use)

AGPL-3.0 Obligations

  • Any distribution of the software (including over a network as a service) must make the complete corresponding source code available under AGPL-3.0
  • Modifications must be clearly marked as such
  • The license and copyright notices must be preserved

The full AGPL-3.0 license text is available at gnu.org/licenses/agpl-3.0.html and in the LICENSE file in the repository.

Commercial License

A commercial license is available for organizations that need to:

  • Integrate AAASP into a proprietary (closed-source) product or service
  • Offer a hosted AAASP-based service without open-sourcing their modifications
  • Receive dedicated support, SLA guarantees, or custom integration assistance

Commercial License Grants

  • A non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use, modify, and deploy AAASP in your product without AGPL copyleft obligations
  • The right to distribute modified versions as part of your proprietary product, without disclosing source code
  • Access to commercial support channels (as specified in your license agreement)

Commercial License Restrictions

  • You may not sublicense the software to third parties unless explicitly permitted
  • You may not remove or alter copyright notices
  • The license is scoped to the entity named in the license agreement

To obtain a commercial license, contact licensing@aaasp.ai with a description of your use case. We offer flexible pricing for startups, enterprises, and OEM partners.

Contributor License Agreement

By submitting code or content to the AAASP repository, contributors grant AAASP a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, modify, and distribute their contributions under any license, including both AGPL-3.0 and commercial licenses. This enables the dual-licensing model to function. Contributions are still owned by the contributor.
